Efficient extraction and ventilation - fischer Maschinentechnik

Achern, Germany

More and more companies are opting for energy-efficient extraction systems. An example of this is fischer Maschinentechnik GmbH in Achern, which belongs to the fischer Group.

  • Production Hall
  • Renovation
  • Indoor Climate System

The aim of the customer is to optimise energy consumption in the company.

When new systems are purchased, they must meet the requirements. fischer Maschinentechnik GmbH, a specialist for tool and plant construction from Achern in the Ortenau district of Baden-Württemberg, has grown strongly in recent years and manufactures tube profiling systems, among other things. A new hall was added, modern processing machines supplemented the existing equipment. However, Managing Director Roland Fischer was not satisfied with the climate in the two halls.

Particularly in winter, haze formed in the hall when most of the doors were closed. The particles in the air are harmless, but the atmosphere was unpleasant, both to look at and to smell.

The entrepreneur therefore decided to dismantle the partially existing decentralised oil mist separators and to procure a new complete system for reliable extraction on a total of eleven machines. "Such a system blows around 10,000 cubic metres of warm hall air outside every hour. Fresh air flows in to replace it. In cold weather, it first has to be heated which takes a lot of energy," explains Roland Fischer.

For this scenario, we were looking for a solution that would guarantee efficient extraction, optimum use of energy and that would fit in with our company's energy efficiency philosophy.

Recovering heat with ProcessVent

Together with Keller Lufttechnik GmbH + Co KG, a suitable concept was offered that combines the powerful emulsion mist separator ENA with a ProcessVent for heat recovery. At the heart of the ProcessVent is a plate heat exchanger, which can be used with wet, dry and aerosol separators, and transfers the thermal energy of the extract air to the supply air flow. The air flows pass through separate ducts: This prevents the fresh air being supplied from becoming contaminated. For additional heating of the air in winter, the ProcessVent is equipped with a heating coil. Employees of Keller Lufttechnik GmbH calculated that fischer Maschinentechnik saves more than 10,000 euros worth of energy annually through the ProcessVent.

Our employees enjoy the clean air in the hall.

Positive feedback from employees

The installation of the new system was challenging, reports fischer production manager Bernd Springmann: "The location on a platform with a low room height required a special construction with a folded supply air module, a breakthrough was necessary and the piping had to be laid partly around an existing crane track by the fitters". Despite these challenges, the plant has been up and running since July 2015.
